Friendship and adventure
Founded in 1975, The Comeragh Mountaineering Club aims to encourage and develop the safe enjoyment of all aspects of mountaineering.
For 50 years, the club has prospered and now has a membership of over 100. The club’s activities centre mainly on weekly Sunday hikes, bank-holiday weekends away, and annual social events such as a summer barbecue and Christmas “Holly and Hot Whiskey” walk and party, which is always very popular. In addition, some members are active rock climbers.
Club members meet socially throughout the year, which usually consists of a slideshow or a talk by a visiting speaker or a club member on some aspect of mountaineering or hillwalking. The club provides training for its members each year, for example, basic navigation skills and mountain safety, etc.
