Essential Gear Requirements for Hillwalking:


  • Boots with good grip and ankle support
  • Waterproof Jacket
  • Waterproof Trousers / Leggings
  • Good Socks
  • Warm Clothes (Fleece is ideal)
  • Warm Hat
  • Gloves
  • Packed Lunch
  • Hot Drink
  • Water (min 1 litre) (In addition to hot drink)
  • Rucksack
  • Watch
  • Change of clothes in car for end of walk

  • Trekking Poles
  • Spare Socks
  • Mobile Phone
  • Torch
  • Whistle
  • Bivvy Bag

  • Extra Water Extra Warm Clothing
  • Sunscreen Extra Hot Drink / Food
  • Hat / Cap Spare Hat / Gloves / Socks
  • Sunglasses in Rucksack



  • Jeans or Trainers are not allowed under any circumstances.
  • If you do not have the Essential Gear listed above, you will not accompany the Comeragh Mountaineering Club on the Grade C or any club walk.
  • Rambling, Hillwalking and Climbing are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
