Vehicle Security after break-ins to vehicles parked in the Comeragh Mountains - Click for advice from the Gardaí.

Car crime in the uplands is typically opportunistic and fast, with most incidents taking place in the afternoons,
between Thursday and Sunday.
The Gardaí have appealed to people parking in the uplands to take the following measures to protect their vehicles:

  1. Avoid leaving bags, clothing etc on view within the vehicle;
  2. Open the glove box, and where possible, the lid on the boot, to show there is nothing in the vehicle;
  3. Remove portable sat navs including cradle and suction pads; also wipe any suction marks off the windscreen;
  4. If you must leave valuables in the boot, put them in before you arrive at the parking location;
  5. Secure the vehicle (23% of these thefts last year were from unlocked vehicles);
  6. Report all break-ins or damage to vehicles;
  7. Watch for, and report, suspicious any activity by dialing 999 / 112.

Gary Farrell Library

The Club has a small library of mountaineering and mountain guide books for use by club members.

Recently Gary Farrell’s widow Aine kindly donated additional mountaineering and mountain guide books to the library.

These additional books plus some other books that the club has recently purchased have now been added to the list on the club website.

In recognition of Gary’s work as one of the founding members of the Comeragh Mountaineering Club and his lifelong commitment to mountaineering the committee has decided to name the library the “ Gary Farrell Library“
